About this Event
In QUEBRADA—titled after the Spanish word for “broken”—Xianix Barrera invites audiences on a visceral, multimedia journey inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold or silver lacquer. This philosophy teaches us to honor our fractures and embrace imperfection as part of our evolution toward wholeness. Instead of hiding our cracks, we highlight them in silver and gold to celebrate resilience, transformation, and the beauty of vulnerability.
Blending flamenco dance, live music, and multimedia projections, QUEBRADA unfolds as an immersive experience of self-discovery, guiding audiences through the phases of Kintsugi—from fracture to healing to rebirth. Directed by Mariana Collado, with musical direction and original compositions by Ricardo Sánchez, and featuring Jose "Cachito" Diaz on vocals, Jeremy Smith on percussion, and Pantera on bass, QUEBRADA is not just a performance—it’s a shared experience of mending, resilience, and imperfection.
