Get ready for a lively show by Gabriel Diego Hernández, blending Quarter Rican vibes with a touch of urban flair!About this Event
Welcome to Quarter Rican - A Gabriel Diego Hernández Production at the DMK Black Box Theater! Get ready for a night filled with laughter, music, and culture.
All show dates:
- April 19 & 26 at 1:00 PM
- April 17, 18, 23, 24 & 25 at 7:00 PM
Quarter Rican follows Danny, a 30-something father, as he navigates a local playground with his 11-month-old son. What starts as a simple afternoon in the park transforms into a vibrant journey through neighborhoods, heritage, and "park bench philosophizing".
The story comes to life through Danny’s musical alter-egos: the swaggering MC Plátano and the virtuosic DJ Quenepa, who use live beatboxing and soundscaping to peel back the layers of Danny's insecurities and triumphs. From original songs like "Thankstaken" to "Who Will You Be?", the show blends comedy with sharp insights into gentrification and what it means to raise a child in a changing world.
