Quantum Computing (QC) promises to revolutionize the computing domain with its ability to outperform classical computing in various applications. The Quantum Competence Center aims at leveraging quantum technologies to drive innovation and enhance banking and financial services. Rafael Sotelo is Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Montevideo.
He has a PhD in Engineering (University of Vigo), Electrical Engineer (University of the Republic) and MBA (IEEM-University of Montevideo).
He is Co-Founder and President of the start-up Quantum-South.
He is an Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of the Republic.
He worked for more than 25 years in technology and telecommunications companies and government.
He obtained the recognition "Uruguayan Scientist with extensive experience" from the Ministry of Education and Culture in December 2019. He is a member of the National System of Researchers, of the National Academy of Engineering of Uruguay and Senior Member of IEEE.
He is an active volunteer in IEEE, integrating management positions at the national and international level.
His research areas include Quantum Computing, Video Quality of Experience, and Industrial and Social Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Technology.
