Overview

November 2015’s DfE publication, ‘Supporting the attainment of disadvantaged pupils: Briefing for school leaders’, detailing research conducted by NFER and Durham University, highlights the need for high quality teaching for all as one of the seven building blocks for increasing school effectiveness for disadvantaged pupils. The document states, ‘Leaders of more successful schools emphasise the importance of quality teaching first.’ The SEND Code of Practice (2015) also places a renewed emphasis on quality first teaching for all children, aimed at both reducing the number of children requiring Special Educational Provision, and ensuring that those with SEND are taught alongside their peers. This raises many questions for practitioners. How can this be achieved when the gaps in children’s learning can be so wide? What does quality first teaching look like now if we are accustomed to teaching through interventions? This course explores what inclusive practice can look like for children with cognition and learning difficulties and, indeed, for all underachieving children.

ON-DEMAND TRAINING, DONE DIFFERENTLY!

If your experience of online on-demand training is spending a couple of hours staring at the screen, watching a presenter talk at you through a video, then step into the world of Inclusive Learning North. Here, we approach all our training differently. We don’t just tell you about the most effective, evidence-based ways to teach; we employ those same strategies for our adult learners, whether we deliver face-to-face, live online or now on-demand.

We have been providing exemplary professional development to the education profession for 10 years, supporting the school workforce in developing the best teaching, learning and school leadership possible. Our training is always underpinned by extensive substantiating evidence and research.

Our aim is that all our training is of the highest quality and is as engaging and interactive as we can make it. To this end, you’ll find that each section of the course contains a mixture of reading material, videos and activities to undertake. Where resources are required to participate in the activities, these will be downloadable from the lesson page. Additionally, you can at any time book a Q&A meeting with the course tutor using the link shown at the end of each section. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions or discuss any issues that arise from the course content. At the end of the course, there will be a short assessment and evaluation to submit. Upon satisfactory completion of the assessment, you will receive your certificate of completion.

You can study each section at your own pace and return as often as you need to complete the course. You can study the course individually, or with a small group of colleagues, which has the advantage of being able to share ideas and get more from the activities.

On-demand training need not be dull or solitary. It can be stimulating, thought-provoking and interactive. Come and find out how!

Please note: on purchasing your ticket you will receive details of enrolment on your course. Please allow up to 5 working days for course enrolment to complete.
