Queer Love Collective are hosting a massive one-day exhibition & event that is going to transform the gallery into a gymnasium!
Brace yourself, as we look into the allure of athleticism, performance, and spectatorship. How has it become entangled with our understanding of queerness, or, our desire to understand ourselves? Listen to a special discussion surrounding historical queer community events that connected us through sport and spectacle, like body building and wrestling, but also catch a glimpse into the sexually charged fascination of observing others bodies, deciphering the distinction between body and gender euphoria.
'Chokehold' opens up space for visitors to interrogate desire; exploring how queer intimacy defies boundaries. Join us for a special live performance ‘peep show’, an exhibition of prints, and a public conversation unpacking the sporty subversive and playful potential of queer communities.
Our special guest (and exhibitor) is C.Moore Hardy, who will be talking about her work documenting our community’s queer histories for the last 40 years.
All funds raised through this event will be going towards the current Lesbian Mud Wrestling fundraisers for gender affirming care surgeries, so shoutout to Teddy and all of the amazing lesbian wrestlers/wranglers who inspired this event to begin with! 🏋️
