About Charlie Barnett:
Charlie Barnett is an accomplished American composer, producer, arranger, playwright, and performer whose work spans stage, screen, and concert hall. Based in the Washington, D.C. area, he has scored award-winning films and television projects, with credits including Saturday Night Live, Weeds, Royal Pains, and Archer. His film work has earned numerous honors, including the Rome International Film Festival’s Jerry Goldsmith Award.
His lively orchestral and chamber compositions have been performed nationally and internationally, with notable collaborations including a spoken-word work created and performed with Maya Angelou. As a playwright, Barnett has written dramas, comedies, and musicals produced in New York City and across the East Coast, including works such as The Spectre of Death, True North, and The Last Days of Cleopatra.
He has also produced numerous pop and jazz recordings for labels including Def Jam and Elektra Records. For over two decades, he performed guitar and piano with the nationally charted jazz ensemble Chaise Lounge, known for featuring his original compositions, and he continues to perform as a jazz pianist today.
Barnett is also the owner of Modern Songbook Records and has been heard as an occasional commentator on NPR, where his essay “Hitching a Ride with Junior McGee” was featured in the Classic Driveway Moments collection.

The Shop offers a carefully curated selection of new and used instruments, accessories, repair services, and consignment opportunities for gently used instruments and equipment. Supported by knowledgeable staff committed to serving the local music community, the store functions as a trusted resource for both beginning and experienced musicians.
The “Stage” side of Queen City Music Studios includes artist booking, event management, and production services, helping bring live music experiences to the community through concerts, workshops, and special events.
