We will learn the basics of Python program for data science applications.
About this Event

The Python programming language is one of the popular programming languages used today.


It is a general-purpose, high-level, object-oriented, and open-source programming language. Python is also great for analysis and all parts of the data science process/ lifecycle.



We will cover topics related to Python coding/environment, data wrangling, visualization, and others. Participants will learn how to perform tasks related to parts of the data science process/lifecycle.



This foundational course makes the topics in data science approachable and manageable. This is a two-day course that will equip students with the foundational skill sets required in today’s workforce.

We will use Jupyter notebook during this course.



We will cover the following topics using Python:

  1. Basic syntax /environment
  2. Extract Transform Load (ETL)
  3. Working with Strings
  4. Data Viz
  5. Exploratory Data Analysis


About the instructor: Michael Jadoo has taught courses on and related to data analysis and data science topics in R. Now he is doing the same and including more for this course in Python! He was an economist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics and an adjunct professor at Montgomery College on the subject of data analysis. Mike is currently a data scientist at Accenture Federal Services.


He has a BA in Economics and Business Administration from FIU and an MA in Applied Economics from The Johns Hopkins University. He also runs the Meetup group Statistical Seminars.
