The Bighorn Bottle Shop and Pintler's Portal Hostel are hosting their third annual a head-to-head puzzling competition in the hostel's perfect mountain-casual space. Race as a team of up to 4 players, all while enjoying your choice of beer, wine or non-alcoholic beverages from The Bighorn.
The per-team admission includes a factory-sealed team puzzle (that the team gets to take home following the competition), lunch to enjoy pre-competition, and beverages. Choose between two bottles of wine for your table, two 4 packs of beer or various NA options. Whatever you don't drink you get to take home! There will be many options of beer and wine available on site for the teams to choose from.
Whichever team can put together a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle the fastest wins a free entry into our next puzzling competition at Pintler's Portal, as well as a $30 gift card to The Bighorn. Each team will receive the same puzzle, but no one will get to see the puzzle until the timer begins. (The puzzle pictured here is not the competition puzzle).
If you want a fun place to crash once the competition concludes, reserve your space at Pintler’s Portal Hostel (for an additional fee). Rent a private room for your whole team, a private room for yourself, or even just a bunk if you prefer.
12 team cap & 6 team minimum
EVENT SCHEDULE:
12:30pm: Check in time.
Enjoy lunch and beverages that are included with your ticket.
12:55pm: Things get serious.
All teams should be seated at their tables.
The puzzle will be sealed and face down on the table.
12:59.50pm:
We will do a 10 second count down to go-time.
1pm: Ready, Set, Puzzle!
When the whistle blows, the puzzle competition begins.
Teams flip over their puzzle, open it up, and get started!
1pm - 3pm:
Show us what you're made of!
1pm - 4pm:
There will be a dinger, call bell at the front of the room. Once your team completes the puzzle, one person from the team must race to the front of the room and ring the bell to announce that their puzzle is complete.
All hands must be removed from all puzzles at that point and we will review the puzzle to ensure it is completed.
If the puzzle is complete, that team will be announced the winner.
If the puzzle is not complete, there will be another 10 second count down and all teams will be able to resume their puzzling at the whistle until the next person dings the bell.
This will continue until we have announced a winner.
Q: How big is the puzzle?
A: This year's puzzle is 1000 pieces.
Q: Do I have to have four people?
A: No, your team cost is the same whether you are a one person team or a four person team. But each team can have 1-4 people.
Q: Do I have to compete?
A: No, You can just enjoy socializing, eating and drinking, whether you put together one piece or many.
Q: What do I need to bring?
A: Bring a valid form of identification if you intend on consuming alcohol.

A: Arrive at the 12:30 check in time
Q: How many teams can register?
A: This event has a capacity of 16 teams based on the number of tables at Pintler's Portal Hostel.
Q: Can I bring soritng trays or any puzzling tools?
A: Nope! Just your raw talent.
