In Purple Plastic Māori: An Exclusive Audience With Shalom Kaa, Shalom invites a limited audience into an elegant and intimate reflection on the seven-year evolution of the acclaimed work before it embarks on its 2027 tour of Australia and Aotearoa.
Premiered at Darwin Fringe in 2019 to a sold-out season, the show has grown across festivals and stages, shaped by identity, courage and artistic risk. For this special event, Shalom opens the story behind the story.
Through candid conversation, audience questions and moments of live waiata, he reflects on the journey, the challenges, and the transformation that brought the work to this point.
This is not a performance of the show — it is something rarer.
