Join Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine for the Purdue Veterinary Medicine Open House during Spring Fest. This free, public event is designed to help visitors learn about the many parts of veterinary medicine and how veterinary teams support animal and human health through learning, discovery, and engagement.Come explore hands-on activities, demonstrations, and family-friendly experiences throughout Lynn Hall and in our outdoor event areas. Visitors of all ages are welcome.
You'll be able to see:
▪️ Guided spay procedure demonstration
▪️ Police Canine demonstration
▪️ Small Animal Physical Rehabilitation demonstrations
▪️ Equine Sports Medicine Center treadmill
▪️ Anatomy Balooza with first-year veterinary students (bone matching, histology coloring, radiography and ultrasound demos, and participation prizes)
▪️ Learn about the -Ologies with second-year veterinary students (microscope slides, toxicology, parasitology, pathology, hematology, hands-on games)
▪️ Get Ready to be a Surgeon with third-year veterinary students (sanitation, suturing skills, endoscopes, and children can try on surgeon attire)
▪️ Petting zoo and a chance to meet Purdue University farm animals
▪️ Canine Educator Program meet and greet
▪️ Shelter medicine activities supporting Priority 4 Paws, including enrichment toy making and animal welfare education
▪️ Outdoor food tent hosted by equine and food animal student clubs (vegetarian options available)
▪️ Large animal and field service features, including equine anatomy illustrated on a horse, ruminant digestion learning with a cannulated cow, and a mobile veterinary unit tour
▪️ Displays from Indiana State Fair 4-H Veterinary Science winners
▪️ Learn about PVM student clubs, including Emergency and Critical Care Society, Equine Club, Exotic Animal Club, Food Animal Club, Feline Club, Internal Medicine Club, and PrideSVMC-Purdue
And for families, make sure to pick up a Graduation Day card at the Welcome Table and collect stamps as you visit activities. When your card is complete, children can receive a diploma, graduation photo, and a special prize at the information booth.
