Punties & Gathers 2.0: Glassblowing Bootcamp with Malcolm Kriegel

Are you constantly breaking out the bottoms of your cups? Is tapping off your cup always a guessing game for you? Does your gaffer always reject your punti? 

If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions then Punties and Gathers 2.0 is the evening boot camp for you. 

This class is the next step for glassblowers ready to push past the basics and dial things in. This class focuses on refinement, control, and consistency. We’ll emphasize efficiency, confidence, and repeatability so your skills hold up in real studio situations. It’s focused, fast-paced, and all about leveling up your technique.

What to Expect: Students will work together and learn to manipulate molten glass (2000 degrees). Safety and tools will all be covered in a fun and exciting environment. As this is a drill based class, do not expect to create complete works.  The hot shop is a loud studio, and can get quite warm.  Glassblowing involves a variety of activities including sitting, standing, and working with hot glass. The environment can be very hot and loud at times. Handling glass and tools may require a certain level of dexterity and ability to lift 5-10 lbs approximately. Eligibility: Previous experience necessary. Open to ages 14 and up.

Pick-up: As this is a drill based class, do not expect to create complete works that would need to be picked up.

This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.

We recommend registering for classes early to reserve your spot! We base materials, and teacher needs off of student enrollment. Early registration not only guarantees your spot in class, but also helps to ensure the class will run. Classes with low enrollment may be cancelled within two weeks of the start date of class.
