Brisbane’s favourite Punks launch their brand-new album “Land Speed Record” Hot off the heels of two consecutive number-one placings in the Radio 4ZZZ Hot 100 the band is on a roll, with a string of successful singles and videos.
We've put together a special lineup of The Arturos, Rocks, and The Strike Outs, with Lucas Ciechanowski performing his unique brand of Stand Up to open the show.
So come along and enjoy a night of Punk Rock And Roll in a safe and inclusive environment.
Square Tugs
Square Tugs have been playing solidly around Brisbane since mid-2020 and are well-established on the live circuit. Starting life as a Circle Jerks cover band, for just a bit of fun, all members are veterans of the Brisbane punk scene and have been playing since the early 1980’s. Robbie was recently recruited from The Arturos to play second guitar and has fit in well into the “Tugs” family.
Quickly moving on to writing their own material they have wasted no time building up a solid fan base around the world, through streaming platforms and the international Punk radio community.
They have released 2 EP’s (Vodka, Lime, and Soda, & Hits Alive) Debut Album (Monster Hits) and 9 Singles since 2022. Receiving an outstanding response from community radio across Australia and the world with plenty of airplay and support. Most notably from 4ZZZ in Brisbane.
Square Tugs are Davey Tug on guitar and vocals, Randy Tug on drums and vocals, and Paulie Tug on bass and vocals, Robbie Tug on guitar and vocals.
THE ARTUROS
Formed in late 2016 by vocalist/guitarist Rob Garry as a solo studio-based project, The Arturos (named in honor of the late Arturo Vega, the genius behind the iconic Ramones Presidential Seal logo) became an outlet for all the punk rock riffs that never found a home in any of his previous musical endeavors. The goal was simple- write and record an EP’s worth of material and share it with like-minded friends and fellow musicians.
Overwhelming positive feedback and repeated airplay on community radio station 4ZZZ demanded that The Arturos become a live entity. Since then, they have shared the stage with great bands such as The Supersuckers (USA), The Creepshow (CAN), XSLF (IRE), Uproar (UK) and CJ Ramone.
2020 saw the release of their debut album, “Tokyo-A-Go-Go!”, which received an outstanding response from community radio across Australia. 2024 sees a new lineup, a new album and a renewed sense of purpose.
ROCKS
The original 4-piece lineup of ROCKS formed in 1976 and stormed through venues all over Sydney before unleashing their legendary ‘You're So Boring’ single in 1978, which is 6 tracks of full-throttle buzzsaw punk rock at its best. Later the same year though, they disbanded. Fast forward 4 years and Bill, Pete & Greg reconvened in a 3-piece lineup (a formation of the band that is still active today with the current drummer, Bibs). ROCKS stayed true with 3 chords, loud guitars, unwavering energy and a no-bullshit attitude that they still carry to this day.
THE STRIKE-OUTS
Since crawling outta a pile of busted music gear, the Strike Outs have been inflicting their caustic garage-rock trash wherever there’s power and earholes. Combining the assault of Motorhead with the garage trash of the Mummies, with a ‘full bore, anywhere, anytime’ attitude they’ll play your front room, but you’ll have to supply the beer…and sort out the scorch marks on the carpet.
