A punk and metal night at The Cave Bar is an unforgettable, gritty underground experience. Imagine stepping into a dimly lit space, where the walls are made of rough stone, amplifying the raw, primal energy of the crowd. The bar is filled with fans in leather jackets, band tees, spikes, and studded accessories, with the unmistakable scent of sweat, beer, and excitement hanging in the air. On stage, local punk and metal bands tear into their sets, with roaring guitars, thundering drums, and vocals that range from growling intensity to wild, distorted screams.
Mosh pits form near the stage as bodies crash into each other with pure, chaotic energy. The atmosphere is both raw and communal, as people bond over their love for aggressive, rebellious music.
The night is a riot of thrashing heads, raised fists, and pure defiance, set against the backdrop of The Cave Bar’s gritty, cavernous walls.

Malevolence
Nz metal stalwarts Malevolence return north to lay waste to us again. For decades have been one of the most consistent metal acts in the country, and are guaranteed to deliver a crushing aural assault once again.
Skumlord
Whangarei local death/grind band Skumlord are performing their debut show. Featuring members of Eolithic Relapse and Cebora. It may be their first show but these guys are well established in the nz metal scene and promise to bring a grinding set to announce their arrival.
The Second death
Punk/hardcore from Auckland. Not to be missed. Intense and furious. Their first time in Whangarei, they will leave us all begging for more.
Shadowless
Dark rock from Auckland. Fresh from opening for legendary American punk band Guttermouth during their recent tour, these guys are going from strength to strength, and are a band to watch as they emerge as one of nz’s up and coming talents.
99 Ghosts
Whangarei local punk band 99 Ghosts are back to lay the city to waste. Consistently furious, if you havnt seen these guys then you have been missing out.
Subspec
Auckland one man band Subspec will open the night with a unique industrial death/punk experience. Its a stage show unlike any other in the country, it needs to be seen to be believed.
