This year's Haflaween will be at the beautiful Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Doors will open at 12pm for set up and for folks to get settled, and performances will start at 1pm and go for as long as we need (though we do need to be out of the building by 5pm). The general theme is GEEK OUT / NERD OUT, but this is not a requirement. Dance what feels right! Also, while this is a belly dance event, other styles of folk dance are welcome, too. <3 Feel free to share this event with friends, family members, or anyone else who might be interested in attending. Please know that this will be a safe space for all. Any attendee who is not respecting the boundaries of the performers and other attendees will be asked to leave.EVERYONE! $10 per person admission (regardless of whether you are performing or observing or both). You can pay in advance through the Heyde Center for the Arts event website, or you can pay when you arrive at the ticket counter at the event (inside the front entrance to the building).
VENDORS! There will be ample space for vending. There is no fee for vendors (other than the $10 per person admission). Just let me know that you would like to vend, and I will let the Heyde Center know to set up a table for you. If you need more than one table (round dinner-style table), please let me know.
PERFORMERS! Since this Haflaween will have professional sound and lights, I do need your music in advance. Please send me your music as an MP3 file no later than October 15th (via email to [email protected]). Please also include how many dancers will be in the piece, if any props will be used, and if you will be starting on stage or off stage. I will create a set list and share that with everyone before the final submission to make sure it works for all performers.
WITCH'S DANCE! Several years ago, we started performing the "Witch's Dance" choreography together as a huge group (credit for this idea goes to the Samsara dancers based in Fall Creek!). We will be continuing this tradition at this year's Haflaween! All are welcome to participate, including folks in the audience who are not in performance costuming. The goal is to have fun! The choregraphed performance can be watched here: The instructional video can be found here:
ALL-INS! I will put a couple of "all-in" sets in the line up. During these songs, everyone is welcome to come on stage and share in the joy of dance, regardless of your "home" style or level of experience. These are a blast!
