About this Event
The Irvine Company is currently revising the Orange Heights project and conducting a new environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), which is a 1970 state law requiring public agencies to analyze and disclose the environmental impacts of proposed discretionary projects, such as construction or development, before approval. In order to conduct a new environmental review under CEQA, they have to create a Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR). Their environmental consultants are conducting biological surveys and applications are being submitted to the City of Orange Planning Division.
There will be a public scoping meeting on May 5th from 4:30-7:30pm at the where The Irvine Company’s consultant will be collecting questions and comments. WE NEED YOU, the public, to:
- Attend the meeting in order to submit questions and comments
- Send written comments via email or snail mail to:
Hayden Beckman - Planning Manager, Community Development Department, City of Orange
Address: 300 East Chapman Avenue, Orange CA. 92866
Email: [email protected]
Please include your name, address, and contact information in your correspondence.
We need comments submitted about what the significant impacts related to wildfire, traffic, wildlife connectivity barrier, habitat loss for rare and threatened special status wildlife species, and destruction of culturally sensitive sites — including the prehistoric Native American village site — are on the property. These comments will help determine how broad the scope will be when conducting the new environmental review.
You can read the full document with all of the information here:
If you cannot make the May 5th meeting, the City of Orange is asking that you submit your written comments no later than May 25, 2026 at 5:00 PM.
Please RSVP via the link on this page to let us know we can count on you to comment. You can also contact Heather Westenhofer at [email protected] to let us know if you will be attending. Please do so before Wednesday, April 29 so we have enough time to prepare people for comments. We are currently developing templates for those comments that will be sent to all who RSVP when they are ready!
This is only the beginning of a long fight. Send your comments today!
