Dr. Fiona Couillard, PhD, is a Scholar and Instructor at the University of Calgary’s Werklund School of Education. Holding a doctorate in educational research, a Master of Fine Arts degreefrom the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Alberta University ofthe Arts, Dr. Couillard’s research focuses on understanding how creative thinking and creative processes can be best integrated and employed to foster authentic critical and creative growth across educational disciplines.
In this talk she addresses the need to understand what creativity is within the context of a higher education landscape that places greater emphasis on innovation, and how creativity might be integrated and fostered across educational disciplines. In doing so, the history of creativity research in North America, existing biases and barriers to creativity in education, and approaches to creativity across education in this era of AI are examined.
