Join us for the second night of Pub Theology on Monday, June 8 with a fascinating and forward-looking conversation: “Thinking Machines? AI, Neurotechnology, and the Image of God,” featuring guest speaker The Rev. Dr. Christopher J. Benek.
As artificial intelligence and neurotechnology rapidly evolve, what does it mean to be human? How do these advancements challenge—or deepen—our understanding of being made in the image of God? Dr. Benek, an internationally recognized pastor, theologian, and thought leader at the intersection of faith and technology, will guide us through these complex and compelling questions.
With insights featured in major global outlets such as The New York Times, The Guardian, BBC, and more, Dr. Benek brings both academic depth and real-world experience to the conversation. He has advised companies, policymakers, and governments on the ethical and societal impact of AI, and currently serves as Pastor of First Miami Presbyterian Church and CEO of The CoCreators Network, an organization committed to the vision of Better People, Better Tech, Better World.
Pub Theology is a speaker and music series designed to engage the wider community in meaningful conversation. Each gathering offers theological, challenging, and thought-provoking discussion in a relaxed, welcoming pub environment—equally comfortable for parishioners, invited friends, and curious newcomers alike.
This year’s series explores scientific and technological developments—from artificial intelligence to communications, neurology, and physics—considering how these discoveries invite deeper theological reflection and new insights into the life of faith.
Join us for the second of four Monday nights in June for engaging conversation, community, and cold beer. Doors open at 6 p.m., the program begins at 7 p.m., and the evening includes time for Q&A.
