Join a collective effort to support the care of Chicago's urban orchards and be part of helping these trees thrive for generations!
In this workshop you will learn how to best nurture and develop a fruit tree's growth and production through pruning. Under the guidance of NeighborSpace's Community Orchards Stewards and local urban forestry experts you will learn to choose which cuts to make and how best to make them.
Other topics include: identifying damaged and diseased growth, ideal fruit tree forms, fruit tree leaders and why they matter, spurs vs. vegetative growth, how much to remove and when, and how to clean pruning tools.
