As delegates gather in Nipaluna / Hobart on October 21 for the annual Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) meeting, we’ll be there demanding action to ban destructive krill fishing.Krill are the foundation of the Antarctic ecosystem — vital food for whales, seals and penguins. Yet industrial supertrawlers are plundering the Southern Ocean, devastating wildlife and even killing whales. Since 2021, eight humpback whales have been killed by entanglement in krill trawler nets.
