2 Days: November 7 & 14 from 9 am to 4 pm
About this Event
The 2-day Strengthening Families (tm) Protective Factors Framework is a national and international initiative aimed to develop and enhance five specific characteristics (called Protective Factors) that help keep families strong and children safe from abuse and neglect. It was designed to assist professionals who work with children and families in promoting the optimal development of all children while protecting vulnerable children from maltreatment.
A Protective Factor is a characteristic that makes a parent, child or family more likely to thrive. The training will explore each of the 5 Protective Factors: Parental Resilience, Social Connections, Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development, Concrete Supports in Times of Need and Social and Emotional Competence of Children.
This is an interactive and hands-on training. We will also be discussing how culture and background play a role in strengthening PF's and how to bring it to life in our work with families.
The training is 2 days, so please be prepared to attend both days in order to receive your certificate!
Light breakfast & snacks will be provided. Lunch is on your own.
This training hosted by Sister Carmen Community Center and will be facilitated by Andrea Ostroy, whom is trained in Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life in Your Work by the National Alliance of Children's Trust & Prevention Funds.
