On Tuesday, May 20th, I'm hosting a free wildfire preparedness evening for Mt. Helix homeowners at Fuerte Elementary School.

I spent 7 years as a firefighter and paramedic with the San Diego Fire Department. I responded to structure fires across this city. I saw firsthand which homes made it and which ones didn't — and the difference almost always came down to things homeowners could have done before the fire ever started.
