About this Event
Join us and Elijah Shiffer for a guided walk at Prospect Park, taking some time to observe the birds found there during spring.
The peak of spring migration may still be a month away, but early April is already an exciting time for birding in Prospect Park. Several early migrants are passing through that will have moved on by May. We’ll be on the lookout for Eastern Phoebes, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Louisiana Waterthrushes, and the earliest of the warblers such as Pine and Palm. The lake may be where we find the most new arrivals including Ospreys, herons, egrets and swallows. There should also be some lingering winter waterbirds here- diving ducks, American Coots, and maybe grebes or loons- which would be a lot less likely to find later in the spring.
