About this Event

In its Modern Industrial Strategy, the UK Government prioritises 8 key sectors for growth, investment and support of which Professional and Business Services is one, and where PropTech / PropertyTech particularly is set to attract support. WIth a very strong academic tradition in Reading construction, prperty management, development and planning have always been a stgrong part of our town's DNA and we're gathering some specialists in PropTech on our doorstep to help scope some activities which will help us in area.

Reading Tech Cluster SIGs are groupings of people and companies with common interest. Lead by innovators, startups and scaleups in the Reading / Berkshire / Thames Valley region, but supported with legal, accounting, sales, marketing and finance specialists, each SIG develops its own mission, goals and plan within the overall Reading Tech Cluster context.

We use the "Reading Method" to grow our SIGs. Conversations and discussions within RTC meetups are always open minded and expansive, exploring ideas and opportunities, powered by lots of listening and lots of asking. Quite frequently, they spin out ideas or themes of common interest around which small groups of people gather, supported by WhatsApp conversations. As soon as a trigger point emerges, RTC facilitates a SIG Design meeting (also called Meeting 1), usually up to five people, to start the process of developing a plan for the group. The plan is typically ultra short, and develops within 2 weeks. When the plan emerges, we convene a Validation meeting with 10-30 people to test for common interest and support. And in due course, we publish the Sector plan which contains the SIG mission, goals and actions.
