Prohibition Party & Hudson Valley Bootlegging LectureStep back in time to the roaring 1920s and discover the secret world of Hudson Valley bootlegging during Prohibition (1920–1933)! Join us for a fascinating storytelling with local actor, writer, and historian Frank Marquette, featuring stories of hidden distilleries, gangsters, speakeasies, and the underground legends that once thrived right here in our backyard.
Frank’s talk explores infamous locations like:
Dutch Schultz’s bunker in Pine Plains
Barmann Brewery in Kingston
Friedman’s Hotel in Highland, tied to gangster Legs Diamond
He’ll also shine a spotlight on the often-forgotten women of Prohibition, the bold “whiskey women” who operated stills and kept things running while federal agents chased the big-name men.
