In this first year of the pilot, Lead Bird Steward Cindy Corey and daughter Calder will share highlights from the season, including the number of birds rescued, species encountered, successes, challenges, and lessons learned while protecting wildlife in an urban environment.Although Riverside Park is not an ideal nesting site for waterbirds, birds continue to use the area, creating both opportunities and management challenges. This talk will explore how collaboration and community engagement support coexistence between people and wildlife.
The project is a partnership between JaxParks, Sierra Club Northeast Florida Group, Duval Audubon Society, Friends of Riverside Park, and Timucuan Parks Foundation, all working toward a shared vision of an urban park where humans and wildlife can thrive together.
