About Dr. Steven D. Smith

Steven D. Smith is a retired Research Professor at the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology. He specializes in Conflict Archaeology, with an emphasis on the American Revolution. He has written eight books including as co-author with Kevin Dougherty, Leading Like the Swamp Fox (2022), and South Carolina in the American Revolution: Profiles in Leadership (2025) both with Casemate Publishers.
