joined Te Kura Mata-Ao, School of Engineering at the University of Waikato in 2022. He is a civil / structural engineer by trade and is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is also the Principal Investigator at the NZ Product Accelerator.
His research combines both civil / structural engineering with mechanical engineering. His interest lies where the two disciplines overlap, with the potential to develop better emergency shelter and affordable housing. While James is interested in all building materials, his research and focus is mainly on cold-formed steel structures, with a special focus on its application to portal frames. This research has been supported by industry either through direct sponsorship of PhD and Masters students or Callaghan Innovation Research and Development Fellowships.
Professor James Lim has authored and co-authored over 120 journals.
This year the University of Waikato is celebrating 60 years of teaching and ground-breaking research. Our anniversary in 2024 provides a unique opportunity to reflect on our rich history and exciting future.
