Poipoia Te Rito is an 8 week in-person course that will run every Tuesday from 4:30pm - 6:30pm, so if you’re keen to join, get in quick as spaces are limited. To register simply email us at [email protected]
Popoia Te Rito is a mental health, wellbeing and resilience programme for Takataapui youth aged 13-25. It’s a space to reconnect with who you are, what it means to be Maaori and what it means to be Takataapui - to you, no matter where you are on your journey. Together we will weave baskets of knowledge filled with tools and strategies that will equip you to build resilience, and a kete of self-directed hauora and wellbeing tools that you can carry on your journey through life, to support your mauri.
We invite you to create a safe space, find your own community, get support from our facilitators, and get educated around wellbeing tools. Here you can build confidence in your identity, and increase your knowledge in Maatauranga Maaori and hauora. We will hold this space through whakawhanaungatanga - connecting with each other, manaakitanga - uplifting each other's mana, wairuatanga - building our sense of self, and kotahitanga - working together to improve our wellbeing.
Poipoia Te Rito was created with the ideology to water the seeds of our youth so they can grow strong and stand in their own turangawaewae. Poipoia is to nurture, tautoko, and uplift youth so that they have the tools and kete to navigate their lives. Rito is the most important part of harakeke as that's where it grows and will continue to grow from, which is why we see it as a metaphor for our rangatahi. Awhi rito is the supporting layers and network that protect, uplift and support young people until they are ready to reciprocate for the next generation, so that they can thrive, flourish and empower themselves.
Please note this course is via registration only. To register for our next intake please email [email protected]
