Transforming the UK to be a Technology Superpower – Nicola Hodson
This year's guest speaker is Nicola Hodson, Deputy President of TechUK, the UK's technology trade association. She has been Vice President of Transformation for Microsoft's commercial business, and a key contributor to Microsoft's overall Commercial and Consumer transformation.
Nicola's presentation will set out her vision for the UK to embrace the next wave of opportunities presented by innovations in technology in order to become a home for world class talent and technology companies, while empowering businesses across the country to digitally transform to drive their success and the growth of the economy. Nicola will leverage her deep experience in transforming companies and her understanding of the industry landscape to discuss the actions needed in the areas of policy, skills and talent, innovation and culture to enable the UK to become a technology superpower that will fuel progress, deliver results and enhance lives.
Nicola is a seasoned executive with substantial experience in global technology and engineering companies, in-depth understanding of market dynamics, transforming businesses, delivering financial results, building top teams, sales and marketing, and the use of technology to drive digital transformation across all sectors.
She is passionate about technology and innovation and has a wide breadth of experience, currently serving on the boards of Beazley PLC, Drax Group PLC, Bramble Energy Limited and a leading public school. Nicola has previously served on the boards of OFGEM, CEOP and UKCIS. Her qualifications include an MBA, PhD Engineering, and BSc.

His widow, Lady Joan Smith, spent the rest of her life funding and supporting the advancement of strategic management within Lancaster University Management School.
