Professor Angela Smith: "Mrs Blair and the BBC"
The Culture, Communication and Creative Practice research group, with English and Creative Writing at the University of Starthclyde, are delighted to host Professor Angela Smith for the talk: "Mrs Blair and the BBC", following her publication of the critical edition, : The Complete Letters of George Orwell's Wife, co-authored with Sylvia Topp.
In this fascinating talk about the life of Eileen Blair (née O'Shaughnessy), who was among many other things, George Orwell's first wife, Professor Smith will be drawing on letters found in the BBC Written Archive, which are being published for the first time. Join us as we discover Eileen's relationship with the BBC and how she helped develop a seminal radio format.
