____

Michael Healy, MD was inspired by his experience as a medical student at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare to become a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Healy returned to Gillette Children’s for specialty fellowship training in pediatric orthopedic surgery. He joined Gillette Children’s as a staff member in 2009.

Dr. Healy’s clinical interests include disorders of the hip and pelvis. The depth of his training gave him unique subspecialty expertise in diagnosing and treating orthopedic issues of the hip, specifically those related to developmental abnormalities and neuromuscular conditions. Dr. Healy corrects such deformities through complex procedures like periacetabular osteotomy and surgical hip dislocation. As a result, many patients experience a significant improvement in their function and quality of life while avoiding the need for an early total hip replacement.
