About this Event

Please note this event is hybrid and will be live-streamed. The Zoom link will be circulated by email nearer the time for those who wish to attend online

Join us to celebrate the inaugural lecture of Professor Emily Nordmann as she reflects on her career in Learning, Teaching and Scholarship and the values that have shaped it.

Professor Nordmann is based in the School of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Glasgow, where she is Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching for the College of Medicine, Veterinary and Life Sciences. Her research focuses on how students learn in blended and digital environments, with a particular emphasis on lecture capture and its role in accessibility and inclusion. Beyond lecture capture, her work examines study strategies, workload models, and the design of sustainable, and pragmatic learning and teaching practices.

A Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Professor Nordmann is also a visible queer academic and co-founder of Rainbow Office Hours, a sector-recognised initiative that promotes belonging and support for LGBTQ+ students and staff. Central to her career is a commitment to supporting Learning, Teaching and Scholarship colleagues through mentoring and the promotion and recognition of education-focused career tracks. In this lecture, she will discuss the importance of mentors, networks of support, and the confidence to bring one’s authentic self to work, alongside her evidence-informed approach to enhancing education.

Professor Nordmann will be introduced by Professor Niamh Stack and there will be a drinks reception following the lecture.
