Processing Grief: Self-Care for Loss
Join us for this special in-person event at the Luminae space in Berkeley, California!
Tida Beattie will be facilitating a guided peer grief support circle. Grief is our natural, unique, wholistic reaction to loss. We now tend to associate grief only with the loss of people important to us, those we've loved, when we actually have incurred losses throughout our lives. Our age-defying, death-denying, grief illiterate culture has pushed grief into such far corners that we have minimal awareness of all of our compounding grief. Our misunderstandings of grief limit our access to the whole of our grieving experiences, resulting in little understanding, validation, or resources available to address all of what we carry.
Within a community of deep care, we encourage you to claim rest, in grief, in the most tender parts of ourselves, to be kind to them. We will soothe our dissonance with breathwork, guided meditation, gentle movement, poetry, and sonic ceremony, resolving heartache into consonance.
Grief is not a problem, nor an illness. It does not require fixing or a cure. However, grief does require time, vulnerability, non-judgement, space, compassion and community. Come listen, witness, and share to find understanding, release, hope, and possibility together.
Your Facilitator:
Tida Beattie is a peer grief support facilitator, a cultural bereavement educator, an end-of-life doula and a sound practitioner. Tida believes grief can be one of our greatest teachers because its presence can illuminate most clearly what is important. She utilizes a wide variety of modalities in order to explore individual and collective pathways into grief, nurturing a wholistic response to the encompassing experience of grief.
Preparation:
You are welcome to bring a backjack or meditation cushion so that you are comfortable seated on the floor for the workshop. We encourage you to arrive early and get settled in so that we can begin on time.
