Processing & Preserving Elderberries [Workshop]

If you are looking to start or add to your herbal medicine cabinet, home-made elderberry syrup is a fantastic addition! In this class, we will discuss the healing benefits of this native plant, learn how to process the berries into a syrup, and safely preserve the syrup through a water bath canning method.

This class will be taught by guest instructor Cian Hassovic. Cian previously served as the Education Manager at City Sprouts from 2018-2023, where she managed and led a variety of gardening, culinary, and nature-based classes. Cian earned her Nebraska Master Naturalist certification in February 2023, and she is currently a student of Biology at the University of Nebraska Omaha. She strives to live a more natural and analog life by incorporating plant-based health into her food and medicine cabinets and creating as much from scratch as possible.
