Join us for a private screening of 1/100 – The Story of the Ostrich Kegler Super, a new 15-minute short documentary uncovering the mystery behind one of adidas’ rarest and most elusive creations.
Shot in late June 2025, Manchester, the film tells the remarkable story of the adidas Ostrich Kegler Super 1/100 — a handcrafted sneaker produced in just 100 pairs to mark the 100th birthday of adidas founder Adi Dassler. Directed by Alexander Bather, and captured in IMAX-resolution using the Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 and Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF , the film combines artistry, craft, and storytelling to revive a lost chapter of trainer history.
The documentary follows Benji Blunt (1x1 Workshop), a renowned shoe designer and restorer, as he takes on the delicate task of restoring one surviving pair of the Ostrich Kegler Super — a pair entrusted to him by a mystery collector. Before restoration began, the shoes were authenticated by Robert Brooks, one of the world’s foremost adidas collectors, whose expertise confirmed their authenticity and importance within trainer culture.
Following the screening, there will be a live Q&A session featuring:
- Benji Blunt, Designer & Founder, 1x1 Workshop
- Alexander Bather, Director & DoP, Dunes.Agency
- Stuart Ashton, Director, Blackmagic Design
The panel will discuss the creative process behind the film, the technical craftsmanship of shooting in ultra-high resolution, and the enduring story of the Ostrich Kegler Super — a shoe that has achieved near-mythical status since its creation in 2000.
More than a story for collectors, 1/100 will resonate with anyone interested in the adidas brand, its design heritage, and the culture that shaped it. The film reflects how one bold piece of trainer fashion — born from craft, experimentation, and creative risk — helped influence adidas’ direction and redefined how sport and style could coexist.
About the Film
1/100 – The Story of the Ostrich Kegler Super is more than a restoration story. It’s a reflection on legacy, obsession, and craftsmanship — a meditation on how design, culture, and memory intertwine. With no official adidas record and only fragments of information surviving, the film reconstructs the story of a creation that sits somewhere between innovation and legend.
The film will premiere this November, marking 25 years since the original release of the Ostrich Kegler Super and commemorating what would have been Adi Dassler’s 125th birthday.
