Print Play: Threads of Pressure
Saturday, December 13, 2025
2:00pm - 4:00pm
Instructor: Aashna Pujara

This event is presented in partnership with OCAD University RBC Centre for Emerging Artists and Designers.

About the Event

In this casual hands-on demonstration with Career Launcher Award recipient Aashna Pujara, the artist will talk about their micro-residency experience at Open Studio and how their printmaking practice relates to a larger preoccupation with textiles, patterns and nature. Participants will create a pressure print collaboratively, using hand-woven pieces of fabric provided by the artist, in addition to various plant matter, to create unique compositions. This pressure printing approach differs from conventional relief printing in that the objects never make contact with the ink, which preserves the objects while capturing them in a unique way.

About the Artist

Aashna Pujara is a South-Asian multidisciplinary artist from Hamilton, Ontario, currently working in Toronto. Their work consists of printmaking and textiles, and often a harmonious collaboration of the two mediums. They are currently exploring the concept of home in relation to their ‘self’, and how environments and surroundings affect their being. This theme is expanded on through tracing patterns of their familial history, the land and the structures their ancestors have resided on and moved through. They aim to engage with these ideas through material research (particularly elements taken from the earth), giving into the process, and playing with scale and composition. Aashna Pujara holds a BFA in Printmaking and Publications from OCAD University. Their work has been a part of group exhibitions at various galleries and artist spaces in and outside of the GTA.
