We’re collaborating with our mates from Queer Cumbria to host a FREE Secret Garden mini-festival for our young queer community and their friends on Saturday 29 June!The Secret Garden will be taken over by queer musicians, artists, community groups and creative gardeners in a celebration of Pride and as a tribute to the Stonewall uprising of June 1969.
There’s optional 1960s fancy dress and ‘Pride wear’. We encourage you to feel free to express yourself and wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.
It’s not Glasto, but we can promise an afternoon of queer entertainment in a safe, uplifting and relaxing festival vibe with something for everyone to enjoy + free snacks.
What’s happening exactly?
🌷‘Listen up’ stage – where musicians, poets or anyone will be given a platform to share their creativity or important messages. Contact Queer Cumbria if you would like a slot!
🌷Creative activities – Carlidoscope, PiNC Arts and Young Woman UP will have some lovely creative activities for you.
🌷Entertainment – there’ll be costumed entertainers, face and body painting, garden bubbles and more to be announced!
🌷Zine launch – Queer Cumbria will also be launching issue 4 of their much loved zine, so be there to bag your copy!
🌷Queer book stall – with friends from Bookends.
🌷Pop-up portrait studio – dead good photography project, Saturday Town will be there to take some pics of you and your friends.
You don’t need to book – just turn up, but PLEASE check Tullie and Queer Cumbria socials on the morning of the event in case the weather fairies ruin our fun!

🌸How to find the Secret Garden🌸
The garden is located on Abbey street next to the Salvation Army Building and opposite Foxes Café. Look out for the sunflower sign that will be on the street to show you how to get in!
There will also be someone to meet you at the gate to ensure the garden remains a safe space for everyone who comes along.
