✨ The Honorable Kenneth T. Welch, Mayor of the City of St. Petersburg, will be joining us as our featured—and only—speaker for the evening! ✨
Mayor Welch—our city’s 54th mayor—has been a lifelong champion for equity, economic opportunity, and community progress in St. Petersburg. A third-generation St. Pete resident, he grew up in the Gas Plant area and witnessed firsthand the displacement of families, small businesses, and churches during the construction of the interstate and Tropicana Field. Those experiences shaped his deep commitment to fairness, economic mobility, and honoring the promises made to this community.
With degrees from USF St. Petersburg and Florida A&M University, Mayor Welch returned home to serve—first as an accountant, and then through 20 years as a Pinellas County Commissioner, becoming only the second African American commissioner in county history. Throughout his career, he has been a passionate advocate for:
✔️ Affordable and equitable housing
✔️ Transportation access
✔️ Local economic development
✔️ Criminal justice reform
✔️ Fighting poverty and expanding opportunity for all residents
Today, as Mayor, he continues that work with vision, integrity, and a heart for the people of St. Petersburg.
