About this Event
In celebration of Pride Month, the Fowler Museum at UCLA is thrilled to welcome author and drag queen Lil Miss Hot Mess for a joyful, high-energy Drag Story Hour filled with reading, singing, dancing, and fabulous self-expression.
All ages are invited to move, sing, and celebrate along as Lil Miss Hot Mess shares her beloved children’s books If You’re a Drag Queen and You Know It and The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish. Bring your loudest voices and brightest spirits— this is a space to celebrate creativity, community, and the joy of being unapologetically yourself! Bonus sparkle for those who arrive in their most colorful, fabulous looks, because drag is all about letting your inner light shine outward.
Lil Miss Hot Mess bedazzles audiences with a unique blend of camp, critique, coding, and choreography. Known for producing over-the-top celebrations like her Bat Mitzvah x2 and roller-skating parties, as well as experimenting with digital technologies and weaving politics into performance, she brings a one-of-a-kind energy to stages and spaces alike. She has appeared everywhere from San Francisco’s legendary gay bar The Stud to Stanford University, SFMOMA, and OccupySF, and has toured nationally across cities including Los Angeles, Portland, Providence, and Seattle. Currently based in Los Angeles, she famously left her heart in San Francisco—but continues to share her sparkle across the country and beyond.
