Preventing Youth Homelessness: Training for Professionals

Our training for professionals is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge, tools and skills, to recognise and effectively support young people who are at risk of homelessness.

Early intervention and access to support services are key to helping young people avoid the devastating impact that homelessness can have and so it is vital that professionals working with young people have the confidence and knowledge to recognise and respond promptly.

The training has been accredited with 3 hours of CPD by the CPD Certification Service.This training is aimed at all professionals who may have contact with young people, and will be particularly relevant for those with specific responsibilities for safeguarding and support.

All sessions are delivered by an experienced and skilled facilitator from Depaul UK.Our training is currently being delivered over a half-day session, lasting approximately 3 hours

How to get here:

• Take the exit at Junction 17 for A56 towards Manchester City Centre.
• Follow the A56 into the city center.
• Continue on Deansgate and turn left onto John Dalton Street.
• Turn right onto Princess Street and follow signs towards Piccadilly.
• Turn left onto Oldham Street where Central Hall Manchester is located.

Parking:

There are several parking facilities nearby, including the NCP Car Park on Church Street and the multi-story car park at the Arndale Shopping Centre.

Train

From Manchester Piccadilly Station:

• Central Hall Manchester is approximately a 10-minute walk from Piccadilly Station.
• Exit the station and walk north on Piccadilly.
• Turn left onto Oldham Street, and you will find Central Hall on your left.

Tram:

From Piccadilly Gardens Tram Stop:

• Take any tram that stops at Piccadilly Gardens, which is a major interchange.
• Central Hall Manchester is a 5-minute walk from Piccadilly Gardens.
• Head northeast on Piccadilly, then turn left onto Oldham Street.

From Manchester Piccadilly Bus Station:

Walk northeast on Piccadilly and turn left onto Oldham Street. It’s a 5-minute walk.

• Walking from Piccadilly Gardens: If you are coming from Piccadilly Gardens, the walk is straightforward. Head northeast along Piccadilly, turning left onto Oldham Street, where Central Hall is located.
• Cycling: There are cycling routes and bike stands available near Central Hall, offering an eco-friendly alternative for reaching your destination.

• Accessible Entrance: The main entrance is equipped with a ramp, ensuring that wheelchair users and those with mobility impairments can enter the building easily.
• Parking: There are designated accessible parking spaces near the entrance of the building. These spaces are reserved for those with a blue badge. Additional public parking, including spaces for disabled users, is available at nearby car parks such as the NCP Car Park on Church Street and the Arndale Shopping Centre car park.

• Level Access: The building is designed with level access throughout key areas, allowing smooth movement for wheelchair users.
• Elevators: Elevators are available to access different floors, ensuring that all parts of the building are reachable without the need for stairs.
• Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are available on-site, equipped with necessary features such as handrails, emergency pull cords, and sufficient space for maneuvering.
• Seating: There is designated seating for individuals with disabilities within the main hall and other communal areas. The seating is designed to provide comfort and convenience.

• Hearing Loop System: A hearing loop system is installed to assist those with hearing impairments, ensuring clear audio during services and events.
• Assistance Dogs: Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the building. Water bowls and a designated relief area are available upon request.
• Staff Assistance: Trained staff and volunteers are on hand to offer assistance with navigation, seating, and any other needs you may have during your visit.

• Clear Signage: The building features clear and visible signage, including tactile signs and Braille for those with visual impairments.
