Working class Andie (Molly Ringwald) is a social outcast with eyes for popular rich kid Blane (Andrew McCarthy), but these star-crossed teens are from opposite sides of the tracks, and in the rigid high school hierarchy, they might as well be from different planets. Andie’s dad (Harry Dean Stanton), tries to help her navigate her feelings, and her older friend Iona (Annie Potts),who owns Trax, the cool record store where she works, tries to pass along her dating wisdom (along with her wild fashions sense).
