Pretty Bitter and Flowerbomb have announced a split EP called Take Me Out, featuring two tracks from each band and a collaborative title track that closes out the release. To celebrate the split, the groups will be playing together at DC’s historic Black Cat on August 9th with support from NYC’s Pop Music Fever Dream, tickets for which are on sale now.
Building on the strengths of Pretty Bitter’s excellent debut Hinges and the two recently released Gloom Scroll EPs from Flowerbomb (Vol. 1 & Vol. 2), this split shows two like minded bands from a scene overflowing with talent (both groups are recipients of Wammies, a respected annual award show for DC music) coming together to make some sharply written tunes that walk the line between heart-on-sleeve emo, indie rock, and lush dream pop.
The split was produced and mixed by Evan Weiss (Into It. Over It.) and Simon Small, who also recorded the EP at their studio. Take Me Out will be released in full on August 1st, 2024
