About this Event
Step away from the screen and into the world of traditional printing in this hands-on letterpress greeting card workshop led by Lucy from Green Machine Creative.
Using vintage Adana tabletop presses and a beautiful selection of traditional wood and metal type, you’ll print a unique set of 8 typographic greeting cards from a curated collection of preset designs created by Lucy. You’ll experiment with ink colours, choose borders and finishing details, and experience the tactile joy of a centuries-old printing process.
This relaxed and creative session is perfect for beginners and creatives alike — no prior experience needed, just curiosity and a love of making.
What you’ll do in this session:
- Learn the fundamentals of traditional letterpress printing
- Get hands-on with authentic vintage printing equipment
- Explore ink mixing and colour matching
- Print your favourite phrases from Lucy’s typographic designs
- Personalise your cards with borders, stamps, and finishing touches
- Create a set of 8 unique greeting cards to take home and share
- Enjoy some creative downtime in a welcoming studio environment

Due to the equipment being used please wear appropriate footwear such as trainers, boots etc

About Lucy
As a professional graphic designer and branding consultant, Lucy from Green Machine Creative blends her experience of running a modern design practice with the very special, traditional printmaking process of Letterpress. When the laptop closes at the end of the day, the traditional printing presses come to life. Using vintage wood and metal type blocks, she creates unique typographic posters and cards to sell online and in stores.

Parking
Parking is available in The Bell Centre Car Park. Please use the second car park entrance on St Marys Way.
Accessing The Bell Centre
Access The Bell Centre from the large green gates at either end of the centre, either from the town centre on Nottingham Street or the opposite The Cutting Room pub on St Marys Way.
