Mississippi M.O.V.E. and AARP Announce Partnership to Enhance Senior Mobility
JACKSON, MS—Mississippi M.O.V.E. and AARP are proud to announce a new partnership to address transportation challenges for senior citizens in the Jackson metropolitan area. The initiative, part of Mississippi M.O.V.E.’s "Ride & Connect" program, will provide free or low-cost transportation to essential services like healthcare appointments, grocery stores, and community centers.
The partnership, funded by a 2025 AARP Community Challenge Grant, will also establish new digital literacy hubs and enhance public spaces to improve connectivity and accessibility for older adults.
The official announcement will take place at Madonna Manor, located at 550 Houston Ave, Jackson, MS, on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
This collaboration aims to improve the quality of life for seniors aged 50 and older by fostering greater independence and social engagement. The "Ride & Connect" program is designed to deliver a range of transportation options to overcome barriers that often prevent seniors from accessing vital resources.
In addition to transportation, the partnership will support digital training workshops to empower seniors with the skills needed for telehealth, online banking, and maintaining social connections. By addressing both mobility and digital access, Mississippi M.O.V.E. and AARP are working to create a more livable and connected community for all.
