Historic church buildings are beloved anchors of our town centers — but when congregations shrink, it can be hard to keep these special places vibrant and well-maintained. At the same time, there is a desperate need for more housing of all kinds throughout the region, Join the NH Preservation Alliance and the Monadnock Interfaith Project for a lunch and learn workshop designed specifically for churches and communities in the Monadnock Region. We will explore some promising models to address these intersecting issues.
We’ll explore how communities can:
Reimagine historic religious properties for new housing, community, and mission-aligned uses
Understand funding realities and fundraising strategies for active congregations as well as re-use
Learn from real examples that balance stewardship with change
Whether you’re a trustee, volunteer, clergy member, or community partner, this session will give you tools to think strategically about the future of your building — before a crisis forces hard choices. Bring your questions and stories!
Please note: This workshop is designed for the Monadnock region. Please send an email to [email protected] if you're interested in hosting or attending this program in a different region.
Presented by the N.H. Preservation Alliance in partnership with Monadnock Interfaith Project.
Sponsored in part by The Putnam Foundation.
