About this Event
The recent fires have left us all in shock, altering landscapes and communities in ways that are difficult to comprehend. In response, we invite you to join us for a public Wikipedia edit-a-thon—a space for remembrance, healing, and action.
Wikipedia is many people's first stop for information, and as a platform built by and for everyday people across the globe, it provides an opportunity for us to collectively document and preserve what was lost. Together, we can ensure that the history, impact, and resilience of our communities live on.
During this event, we will:
📌 Upload and archive photographs of affected areas
📌 Expand and create Wikipedia articles on the fire’s impact, casualties, and historical significance
📌 Share knowledge, stories, and resources to strengthen public records
Experienced Wikipedia editors will be on hand to guide the process, and all levels of experience are welcome—whether you’re a researcher, writer, photographer, or someone looking to contribute in any way. If you have reference materials, media, or other resources, your contributions will be invaluable.
🔹 Please bring your laptop to participate fully in editing and uploading content. Wi-Fi will be available.
