Preservation Month Behind-the-Scenes Experience

For thirteen month of his Presidency, Abraham Lincoln and his family made the Cottage their home. Today, President Lincoln's Cottage is charged with caring for and preserving Lincoln's favorite DC residence.

Join the Cottage's Director of Preservation, Jeff Larry on a behind-the-scenes experience in honor of Preservation Month. Jeff will share the painstaking level of detail that has gone into the care of every inch of the Cottage. Jeff will share the backstory behind each nook and cranny in this hour-long, indoor/outdoor preservation experience.

Free parking is available onsite.

Please check in at the Visitor Education Center by 4:30pm.

The Museum Store located in the Robert H. Smith Visitor Education Center will be open after the tour.

Armed Forces Retirement Home

President Lincoln’s Cottage is on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home. Security for the Armed Forces Retirement Home requires visitors to show valid identification at the security gate in order to enter the property. Please be prepared to show your ID.

Exploring beyond the boundaries of President Lincoln's Cottage is not permitted and results in trespassing on federal property.

Pets are not allowed on the grounds.
