About this Event
Present Perfect: Casting in a different light
(A Writing Workshop)
Thursday, Apr 16, 2026
6:30-8pm
Facilitator: Rosa Castellano, Writing Community Engagement Coordinator at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond
Location: 1708 Gallery
Isabella Whitfield's show Present Perfect, up now at 1708 Gallery, offers viewers the opportunity to consider the present, how it feels dictated by an impermeable past, and how the future appears increasingly calcified, a collapse of destiny into fate. In this generative workshop, we will view the work and write from the intersections that it opens up, utilizing handmade paper (the shows primary medium) and shadow casting to consider our own objects in a different light. Please bring a small object to work with (no larger than 8.5"x11”). All other materials will be supplied including handmade paper by the artist!
This workshop is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required.
This event is sponsored by 1708 Gallery.
