Learn to prepare native pollinator seeds to grow in the spring!Cold stratification is the process of exposing seeds to cold (and moist) conditions to encourage germination. Doing so mimics natural conditions of seeds that have fallen to the ground, chilling and thawing over the course of winter. Without this process, some seeds—particularly native wildflowers—will simply not germinate, or they will germinate very poorly.
All materials for this hands-on workshop will be provided, including a variety of Champaign-county native pollinator seeds (from The Urbana Free Library Seed Exchange). Feel free to bring your own seeds!
Help increase the number of native pollinators in Champaign County!
