About this Event
Are you a cartoonist, comics artist, or other artist, with art you want to display in the upcoming LGBTQIA+ themed show at the Footlight Club, at any other gallery or gallery-like venue, or for Open Studios or a craft fair in your town? Then you’ll need to prepare that art for hanging! You could go to a framing shop, but you’ll get better and more inexpensive results by learning to mount and/or frame your art yourself. Good presentation can preserve your art, enhance its appeal and value to collectors, and make your studio walls look great.
The Boston Comics Roundtable and the Footlight Club will host a hands-on art-framing workshop led by artist E. J. Barnes on Sunday, March 30th, at the Footlight Club’s Joy Cochran Gallery. She will cover such topics as how to prepare art for framing, where to buy frames or frame sections online for maximum flexibility and value, glazing, different hanging systems, and what sort of hangers galleries prefer. She will also show her special technique of displaying word balloons on comics art even if you added your lettering digitally for publication.
This workshop is free to all.
